Task
A referendum was held to decide on the refurbishment of the Güssing Cultural Centre, built in the "Brutalist" architectural style. A clear majority of voters wanted to see the multi-purpose venue preserved, modernised and expanded – as a result, 23 million Euros were subsequently invested. In order to manage the spacious interior (the event hall alone can accommodate 500 guests) effectively, the ventilation system was also redesigned. As listed building regulations do not permit any visible alterations to the building, the air had to be channelled underground – in some cases through areas that are difficult to access, such as beneath the enclosed courtyard. As so often the case with historic buildings featuring fixed structures, the products used had to possess special properties: in this instance, a high degree of flexibility during installation was a fundamental requirement. Consequently, the decision was made in favour of the LAVANTUS air ducts – in addition to the ability to adapt the system precisely to the existing conditions, its low weight, even with larger duct dimensions, and thus its ease of handling were decisive factors. As the timeframe for the refurbishment was tight, particularly reliable partners were required for this project: in line with standard VENTAFLEX practice, logistics and transport ran smoothly – the 11 lorry deliveries arrived in the neighbouring country right on schedule.
