Task
The municipality of the city Ins, located approximately 30 km west of Bern, is constructing a large secondary school center. The various buildings are to be constructed sustainably in several respects: for example, the energy balance of the building materials used and the possibility of expansion, if necessary, play a major role in the planning. In order to achieve the “net zero target” for greenhouse gas emissions set by the Swiss Federal Council as far as possible, the “SIA Efficiency Path Energy” building standard was developed. The result is strict limits on CO2 emissions for construction, operation, and mobility in public sector investments. In this case, it was not only the excellent functional properties, but also the sustainable production and disposal that made LAVANTUS air ducts so attractive for this project. Another focus was on perfect insulation of the system – for economical operation and optimum air quality, and to prevent condensation. The fact that air transport in VENTAFLEX systems is always low-noise was another convincing factor for the planners.
VENTAFLEX-solution
LAVANTUS underground air ducts:
- 114 ducts, ø 250 mm, each 3 m long, total length 342 m
- 50 curves (15°/30°/45°/90°)
- 170 LavantusGrip cuffs
- 12 wall collars and ring seals
Advantages due to the VENTAFLEX system
- Optimal thermal insulation – WLS 022 reduces condensation
- Savings in operating costs – up to 40% less energy loss, up to 10% less pressure loss, and up to 99% less leakage loss
- Proven technology – handling and installation are self-explanatory, making it easy to delegate to specialist companies on site
- Certified hygiene conformity of ducts in accordance with VDI 6022
- Up to 70% lower weight – advantages in transport and installation
